Joe Carter
Founder, Leader
Joe Carter is the CEO of Heritage, where he provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership. He plays a key role in shaping and executing the company’s vision, strategic plan, and major investments.
Joe is an authentic, stakeholder-centric business operator with more than twenty years of experience facilitating team growth and cultures of excellence. He’s led Inc. 5000 firms for multiple years, had three successful exits, transitioned to PE-backed C-Suite Leadership, and built a successful M&A engine including diligence, financial, and integration teams.
Heritage is the culmination of Joe’s experience in helping high-growth teams facilitate, authentic, transparent, stakeholder-focused company cultures mixed with an intense focus on sound business fundamentals and repeatable processes often found in Private Equity.
Joe has completed his MBA at Oxford and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School having completed the 44th Cohort of the OPM program.
Stuart Mclendon
CFO
Stuart has spent his 20-year professional career helping other leaders achieve their goals, specializing in leadership, finance, and accounting. During his career, he has had the opportunity to learn how to build vibrant, organic teams and businesses. He has served DYNE Hospitality Group as CFO since 2018 and has helped lead the company from 16 to over 100 operating locations. Stuart also oversees their ongoing real estate development work.
Before DYNE, Stuart became a nationally recognized expert on financial analysis, corporate structures, and business valuations through CFO Network. Stuart is a native of North Little Rock, Arkansas where he continues to reside with his wife, Mandi, and their three children. He is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Catholic High School for Boys and from the Donaghey Scholars at UA Little Rock with degrees in Finance and International Business. He takes pride in community service and building a better central Arkansas.
Reese Lovell
PARTNER & PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Reese Lovell is a Partner at Heritage, where he oversees real estate deal sourcing and execution, while also leading the company’s marketing efforts. His expertise in identifying and closing real estate opportunities is key to Heritage's continued growth and success.
Before joining Heritage, Reese spent six years as a ranch real estate broker, specializing in ranch and farm sales in addition to land value creation. His time at Eagle Land Brokerage allowed him to develop a deep understanding of rural property transactions and land investments, which he now brings to Heritage’s operations. Reese studied at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.
Paul O’Shea
COO
Paul O’Shea is Chief Operating Office at Heritage where he leads the operations and project management functions of the firm.
Prior to Heritage, Paul was Senior Vice President at the financial services firm Colmore, where he led product development and client engagement specializing in due diligence and monitoring for institutional private market investors. Earlier in his career, Paul was a Vice President of the European private equity firm Capital Dynamics and began his career in global markets at BNY Mellon.
Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree (honors) in Management and Economics from the University of Leeds, UK, an MBA from University of Oxford, UK and holds the designation of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
Terry Benham
CSO
Terry Benham is a Partner and Chief Strategy Officer at Heritage, where he leads the firm’s strategy and growth efforts. With more than 25 years of executive and board level leadership experience in strategic consulting, governmental affairs, public relations, and entrepreneurship, Terry plays a key role in advising the leadership teams of Heritage’s portfolio companies on long-term growth strategies, branding, and regulatory issues. His depth of experience and global relationships help drive solutions for our portfolio and the communities in which we invest. Terry is an avid outdoorsman and waterfowl hunter. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the University of Arkansas.
David Robinson
Project Manager
David Robinson is a Project Manager at Heritage, where he leads the company’s onsite property improvement and development efforts and works closely with Reese Lovell on real estate deal sourcing. Since February 2024, David has managed Heritage’s Colorado holdings and projects in Arkansas, ensuring successful development and property enhancements.
Before his work at Heritage, David was the Principal Broker at TurnKey Property Management, overseeing the development and management of over 900 properties across Central Arkansas. Earlier in his career in held positions in commercial real estate with Flake & Kelley Commercial and Davis DuBose Knight Forestry & Real Estate.
David holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews and completed an executive education program on Real Estate Management at Wharton in 2024.
